Planning for the Course



The time available for completing the study is 2-months at maximum. This is why the study needs to be planned and completed in structured steps. The following tentative schedule of events is given for you to follow:

Week 1 (April 1, 2010 - April 7)

    I. Finalizing research topics

    II. Arranging 10-20 research papers related to the research topic

    III. Preparing rough draft of literature review

    Meeting to discuss the progress made during the week


Week 2 (April 8, 2010 - April 14)

    I. Refining Introduction to the research

    II. Refining the literature review

    III. Developing hypotheses based on the literature review

    Meeting to discuss the progress made during the week


Week 3 (April 15, 2010 - April 21)
  
    I. Data management

    II. 
Writing Methodology

    III. Variable definitions and measurement

    III. Finalizing the calculation of variables

    Meeting to discuss the progress made during the week


Week 4 (April 22, 2010 - April 28)

    I. Model specification - outlining model assumptions, justification for using a given model,

    II. Checking data for normality, hetroscedasticity, correlation, outliers etc.

    III. Estimating the model

    III. Discussing the results in light of the hypotheses, earlier theories, and policy implications

    Meeting to discuss the progress made during the week


Week 5 (April 29, 2010 - May 6)

    I. Refining the discussion on results

    II. Any alternative test for robustness of the results

    III. Writing conclusion of the paper

Meeting to discuss the progress made during the week


Week 6 (May 7, 2010 - May 13)

    I. Finalizing the introduction to the paper in light of the overall findings of the paper

    II. Editing and proofreading the paper

    III. Submitting the paper to www.turnitin.com for plagiarism check

    III. Cleaning the paper from plagiarism (if any)

Meeting to discuss the progress made during the week


Week 7 (May 14, 2010 - May 21)

    I. Power point presentation of the research

    II. Demo presentation to me (Max 15 minutes)

    III. Improvement in the draft and in the power point slides



Week 8 (May 22, 2010 - May 30)

    I. Any pending activity




    Remember your marks will depend on both the quality of your research as well as your seriousness about the study. Students missing the above deadlines will loose 5 marks per deadline.
